THF News January 2013

Thf after-care has kicked of with a bang this year.  We are catering for more than a 100 kids at the after-care where we assist with homework, sports coaching, music classes, art classes and drama. The kids are really enjoying the activities and we make learning a lot of fun.  We are excited about 2013 and the opportunities we offer the kids of Olievenhoutbosch.  Thf provides a healthy, balanced meal for each kid attending after-care in the afternoons.  Additional support for food resources is always welcome for this!

The thf staff consists of 13 staff members and volunteers, and the bulk of these volunteers are made up of the teenagers who completed our mentoring programme at the high school.  These teenagers are diligent and very caring towards the little ones at after-care.  Some of them would love the opportunity to study and qualify themselves in a profession.  However, they lack the necessary funding for this.  If anyone is interested in funding a thf teenager’s study, that will definitely make a lasting impact on their future.

The teenagers

Thf facilitated the athletics at the high school this term.  What an awesome day it was, and how much talent these teenagers actually have!  We would love to make this an annual event.  The aim of Thf is to provide the opportunity for the top althletes of Olievenhoutbosch to participate in SA Athletics.  See the attached the video and photo’s of the day.

Thf initiated a musical production for the teenagers of Olievenhoutbosch.  This is an opportunity to develop their talents in music, dance and drama.  The details of the musical production will follow and we hope you will share this wonderful evening with us.

One of the teenagers, Percy Mthokozisi, who were part of our mentoring programme got accepted at 13th Floor to be part of a gap year which involves training, travelling and spreading the gospel.  Visit their website (www.13thfloor.net) to find out more about this wonderful opportunity Percy has.  Attached is Percy’s first newsletter.

As always, our motto at Thf is that the poorest person is not the one without money, but the one without a dream.  Thf are here to help the youth make their dreams come true and to show them the love of Jesus while we do that.
